First Impression

So after our luggage was last off the plane we went out the doors of the airport and into a sea of sound and sensation. Horns of all pitches readily honked at one another, saying either; "get out of my way" or "hey I am here, don't run me over".

The air was hot and sticky and cool all at the same time with the smell of ocean, exhaust, and greenery.

Dizzy with jet lag I met my husbands Acha (Malayalam for Dad) some others, and Anand, Rahul's sisters hubby. Anand was the first to take us through the wild Indian traffic.
small auto rickshaws, large trucks, and motor cycles, zoomed past us and us past them. No lights ruled intersections just the bravado of the driver.

We past stands that sold many things, some bananas, some candies and some with coconuts that you drink out of. There were small open shops, of which I wondered what they do at night to protect their supply. There were a lot of unfinished construction projects, colorful Masques and coconut trees everywhere, just like palm trees but more useful.
